LOST – 2.5 hours to prove you’re ridiculous

The Lost series finale was last night. I have to say, way to take the easiest way out by telling us that both that everyone was alive on the island and that everyone is dead now and they all died at some point earlier or later. Thanks again for not answering any questions about why the island is weird… couldn’t they all have come together in a regular setting in the “regular” world to work together to go on to the afterlife/church/whatever? I can’t help but feel that the writers really never planned to wrap things up and answer questions, they just made up crazy scenarios that they felt entertained us… and then just told us everyone is dead now after their life journey and learning faith and to let go. Oh, and where they “are” there is “no now.”

This last season was pretty terrible. I’m glad it’s over, now I can focus on more entertaining shows.

LOST – making a deal with the Fake Locke

Did anyone catch last night’s episode?

It was revealed to us that both Dogen and Sayid made deals with Jacob and Fake-Locke to save someone they cared for at the expense of them staying on the island with a “job.”
If you recall, Juliet also made a similar deal with respect to saving her sisters life for staying on the island and doing her research.

Can we assume that Claire made a similar deal regarding her son, maybe one that she doesn’t recall?

Also, Sayid was instructed to stab Fake-Locke before he spoke. Does that mean that Sayid would have been able to kill him if he had followed directions or do we take Fake-Locke’s word that Sayid would never have been able to kill him, Dogen was just trying to get Sayid killed?

Thoughts?

I realize the Olympics are on… but I think that regular seasonal shows have taken more than enough of a break. Come on. My Tivo still works! Come back shows. Now.

Why isn’t Grey’s Anatomy amazing anymore?

What happened to the fun exciting Grey’s Anatomy of season 1? Relationships were forming, people were getting drunk and dancing on couches, there was no crazy massive disaster that required all hands…
Now I feel like every episode someone needs to die, someone has to argue with their best friend, and there must be crazy hospital failure drama.

Bring back season one style Grey’s Anatomy please.

Just as my schedule started to ease up, TV shows stopped airing new episodes and just showing us reruns… I’m not sure what about winter break brings on bad movies and reruns, but its always been that way and I don’t like it.
To make up for it I’ve spent hours on hulu.com catching up on my favorites (like 30 Rock) and watching whatever actual new show have been on. Last night I caught the new MTV show, “The City.” It’s a spin-off from “The Hills” and it was not a rerun. Anyone who watched or has a gf who watched The Hills has heard of Justin-Bobby, the on-again off-again “boyfriend” of one of the girls… Now Whitney has a love interest on The City, Jay, and I’m going to go ahead and call it now, he’s going to pull a Justin-Bobby. He’s not going to commit, he’s going to be randomly unavailable, randomly lovey-dovey… we already have him telling his roommate he doesn’t want to stop dating others, but surprising Whitney at a dinner party he said he wasn’t attending. I’m bored already. Luckily most other shows will pick back up this weekend.

Canceled? Why?

Fellow Trojan, T.J. Thyne of the Bones cast (playing Jack Hodgins) was seen yesterday at the Sherman Oaks Galleria in California.

Hope he had a relaxing Sunday afternoon…

TV rocks my world, how to get it to rock yours too

Inbetween work, school, working out, and spending time with friends/family I use my TV to its fullest extent. If you don’t think having a TV is all that great, it just means you aren’t doing things right… Here is what you should be doing.

Video Games – Thats right, use your TV for video games, even if you are an adult. Games are a great way to unwind. Personally I like the Wii for casual gaming, but the xbox 360 for more involved games and first person shooters. If you get the Wii…. must get Mario Galaxy, and then the wii fit (see my post about it here). This even doubles as your exercise, meaning less time at the gym, more time with your TV.
Tivo! – You must get a Tivo! Tivo means you go to work and school and your shows effortlessly are recorded so when you DO have freetime you can watch exactly what you want, instead of that awful rerun of Mama’s Family. [Obviously you need cable or satellite to take full advantage of this] [Also, here is a link where you can save up $350 on your Tivo purchase]
NetFlix – Tivo is great, and you get to watch a lot of what you want, but seasons 1-6 of Alias won’t be on, in order. Get Netflix, setup your queue, watch the dvd’s as they come and enjoy life. It is cheap and totally worth it. Worth all $5 a month.

Then again, if you don’t have a TV, just go to Hulu.com and watch some free tv!

Tivo, why do you suck at life?

So, I’m happily outlining for finals…ok, maybe not happily, but I’m doing it, and I have my TV on. Watching things on my tivo… Next thing I know it goes silent. What? Why? I look up and the screen says “Welcome! Powering up…”

I think to myself “well thats strange, its never powered up by itself BEFORE”

A few minutes later the next screen says something to the effect of “Just a few more minutes…”

Ok, you’ve totally interrupted my viewing experience, thanks Tivo.

I look up 5 minutes later and it says “Installing an important sevice update”

Ok, fine, this sounds legitimate…

A few minutes later, I get this AWESOME message “Preparing the service update. This may take up to an hour, possibly longer”

WHAT?!?!?!?! Wait a second, I never asked to install anything, why are you ruining the rest of my night? Couldn’t you prompt me for this?

Next thing you’re going to tell me you had to reformat and you’ve lost all my season pass info and my recorded programs…. I guess in an hour or “possibly longer” we’ll find out.

Writing, Reading, Amusing Ourselves

I spend a great deal of time reading blogs, forums, and news articles. Sure, I only read the “offbeat” news and the tech news, but thats not the point. The point is, I like to read things on the internet. A little postsecret on mondays; gizmodo, lifehacker, and Yahoo News on and off all week; and now I’m taking a look at forums. I admit, I used to read and troll the World of Warcraft Forums, but since I stopped playing over a year ago I haven’t really found a replacement. Today I came across the Thoughts.com Forums.

I can’t say if this will fill the void that losing the World of Warcraft forums has created, but I have to say, pretty good. Tons of threads to read, pretty active. All types of topics from TV shows to Religion to Humor. Gives me plenty to browse and comment on while I’m waiting for a classmate to finish talking about their attenuated “what if” scenario. Check it out, start contributing so I have more to read . Like I said earlier, there is a large variety of topics so it keeps all of us busy. Not to mention you can flame all the posts you don’t like… Happy Trolling!

Finally Tivo… but there is nothing to watch

So I finally got a TiVo, and I’m really excited about it, except wait… oh yeah, there is NOTHING TO WATCH. Thanks to the writers’ strike none of my favorite shows are on anymore. I don’t even know what to set tivo to record. Any idea? I’m looking for some TV inspiration here.

PS – Tivo is TOTALLY today’s timewaster.

Time for a new look?

Though i don’t have the time now, at all, to do this… I think it would be fun to give the blog a new look. Clean it up a bit. Add a section on the side for most popular posts, things like that. I use WordPress and that would not be changing. I am very happy with wordpress. I should, however, upgrade the version of wordpress I am running and take advantage of the new features available on the new versions.

As for the new look, the dilemma is do i create my own new look? Do I get a blog designer? Do i just use a preset template?

The best would likely be to edit a preset template to my liking. Man I’m tired. Time to go veg out and watch some tv. I’m still shocked that Heath Ledger passed away today.
