That’s right, while I was running like mad trying to meet deadlines for the last month, WM6 was FINALLY released for the Samsung Blackjack. What are you waiting for? Go install it!
Don’t forget, this will wipe your phone, so be sure to back everything up. Anyone have a copy of Sprite Backup I can use?
AT&T is offering Free holiday ringtones and games for a limited time. The way it works is you text “GIFT” to 7230 and then send you a link where you can get the ringtones and game. The Link seems to just be http://www.attfreetone.com/ so if you want to save yourself a text I think you can just directly go to the URL.
Enjoy your free stuff!
That’s right. While I was researching when I would actually perhaps maybe ever get WM6 I found a notice on the AT&T forums about our beloved Samsung Blackjack being recalled. I called in and got them to send me my new phone (already sent my old one back), but I had to specifically mention the recall.
Here is what the post said:
“Customers who purchased the Samsung BlackJack i607 which was manufactured during the
months of November 2006 – February 2007 may find they are experiencing dropped calls
or poor signal reception. After extensive testing by Samsung and AT&T they have
found some internal components are wearing over time and causing the antennae
connection to loosen causing poor signal and dropped calls.
Samsung has implemented some design changes to fix these issues: they changed a
coating within the device back in February which improved RF and have made several
hardware changes recently to improve the reception even more. There have been no
issues with call performance with all new hardware manufactured from March 2007
Customers who have purchased the Samsung BlackJack i607 and are affected by the
“dropped call” scenario are advised to call the Exchange By Mail”
Enjoy your newer Blackjack!
There is a new thread in the Cingular/AT&T forums (under Samsung) about the WM6 upgrade, and on Halloween (10/31) WM6 was released for the 8525, BUT no WM6 for the faithful Blackjack users. I have posted about this numerous times before (click on the category “blackjack”) and how I have been patiently waiting for Windows Mobile 6 to be released for us, but its not happening. Will the Blackjack 2 hit the market before out WM6 upgrade is released?
Maybe we should take comfort in the fact that it was released for one phone yesterday and thus AT&T must be making progress.
I’m anxiously awaiting our upgrade release. Hopefully it will come soon.
To install a homescreen to your Blackjack, follow these steps:

Check out this post for resources on getting Homescreens.
Here is how you can get into the admin settings on your Samsung Blackjack… this is really handy as the Network and Call settings menu enables you to force it off 3G if you should so choose.. (saves battery life if you’re not on 3G)
You can get into the admin settings etc with the following code:
3 Network and Call settings
Two of the menus require a password, it is *#81230*#
As I’ve mentioned a few times earlier (iPhone sucks, waiting for windows mobile 6, still waiting for wm6) I own a Samsung blackjack, my pride and joy. Being obsessed with computers and gadgets I’m constantly messing around with my blackjack trying to customize it more and more. This translates into “I break it a lot and then have to fix what I did wrong,” so I’ve put together a list of resources that I use to customize my blackjack, stay up to date on news for, and then fix my blackjack when my customizations go awfully wrong.
As I mentioned earlier, in a post about when WM6 is coming out for the Blackjack, I’m waiting (and waiting) for wm6 to be released. In the meanwhile, since we won’t be getting wm6 until mid August to early September, I’ve been trying to make the most of what i do have. Went ahead and checked out the new release of Yahoo! Go for the Samsung Blackjack. This is basically just mobile Yahoo, has some neat features, but runs a bit slow. I’m assuming that may improve since this is just a beta release. Try it out, let me know what you think. Also, here is a link for those who are courageous enough to try out the leaked wm6 ROM for the Blackjack. Enjoy! (yes it links to the download for wm6).
As I’ve mentioned before I own a Samsung Blackjack… and since I bought it I’ve been itching to get windows mobile 6 on it. Cingular/AT&T originally delayed the update to Q3 and now I’m hearing “later this summer.” I’m exciting…and I’m waiting. Has anyone heard anything new?
Here is the news I’m working off of:
